MEDIUM AND STYLE
Richly detailed storybook illustration, ink line work with watercolour and gouache, whimsical architecture and creatures, warm magical light. Fill the scene with many small characters and objects, each in its own colour, scattered across the whole canvas.
SCENE
In an enchanting mushroom village set within an autumn forest, animals hustle and bustle about their daily routines. Towering mushrooms with textured caps serve as charming homes and shops. Hedgehogs run a cozy bakery, with the warm glow of oven fires visible through a window. Foxes, with mailbags swaying, trot down a winding path delivering letters. Mice scurry about, hanging glowing lanterns between homes, lighting up the village in preparation for the harvest festival. Every corner is alive with the vibrant energy of the woodland community hard at work. Focal point: A tall mushroom house with a bustling hedgehog bakery at its base, near the center. Foreground: A cobblestone path winds between colorful mushrooms. A hedgehog offers pastries to a squirrel. Fallen leaves scatter the path, with mushrooms lining each side, their caps adorned with intricate patterns. Midground: Foxes carry woven baskets along the path, delivering letters and parcels. Small groups of mice are seen climbing ladders to hang glowing amber lanterns between toadstools, preparing for festivities. Background: Majestic trees, their leaves a riot of color, enclose the village. Between them, patches of deep, shadowed woods invite exploration. Birds flutter and rest on branches, adding movement high above. Lighting: Soft, warm afternoon light filters through the tree canopy, creating a dappled pattern on the ground. The light highlights the vivid colors of the autumn leaves and softens as it reaches the far woods. Colour zones: Moss green #556b2f for mushroom caps; Chestnut wood #8b4513 for tree trunks; Amber glow #b8860b for lantern lights; Crimson red #dc143c for autumn leaves; Sapphire blue #4682b4 for sky glimpses; Rose bubble #f08080 for mushroom spots; Indigo violet #4b0082 for shadow areas. Small hidden details spread across different areas: A squirrel with a pie; A bird with a red ribbon; A mouse with a tiny compass; A fox reading a map; A hedgehog wearing a chef's hat.
FORMAT
Portrait format 3:4 (1536×2048). Vertical composition: foreground, midground and background stacked from bottom to top, with interest reaching the top edge.
PUZZLE CALIBRATION
The picture will be cut into about 108 pieces (9 columns by 12 rows). A clear focal point surrounded by many secondary details; medium-sized colour regions, each with its own texture; a recognisable object or pattern fragment in every piece-sized area.
PUZZLE CRAFT (house rules)
Original artwork made to be printed and cut into a premium jigsaw puzzle. Edge-to-edge composition: the scene fills the whole canvas, corners and borders included, with real content in all four corners because players start with the edge pieces. Even distribution of interest: there is something to recognise in every area of the picture, with no large empty or uniform zone (no plain sky, flat water, blank wall or smooth gradient covering more than a small part of the image). Clear colour zoning: five to eight distinct colour families laid out in readable regions, so players can sort pieces into piles by colour. Inside each colour region, varied textures and small details (brick, foliage, fabric, ripples, patterns) so two pieces of the same colour still look different. Full tonal range with strong local contrast between neighbouring shapes; deep shadows keep detail and highlights never blow out. Everything in sharp focus from the foreground to the horizon: no depth-of-field blur, no bokeh, no motion blur, no haze or fog veils. Rich, saturated but print-safe colour, balanced warm and cool tones, even lighting that keeps every area legible. Layered depth: a detailed foreground, a lively midground and a structured background stacked through the frame. Small hidden stories and discoverable details spread across the canvas, rewarding a close look.
